Juneteenth 2027 is still ahead. It falls on Saturday, 19 June 2027, 295 days after 28 August 2026. This page is kept whichever side of today the date falls on: the date and the rule behind it are worth looking up either way. For the year after this one see Juneteenth 2028, and for the always-current countdown see the next Juneteenth.
Juneteenth 2027 is Saturday, 19 June 2027
There are 295 days between 28 August 2026 and Juneteenth 2027, which falls on Saturday, 19 June 2027. That is 42 weeks and 1 day, or 200 working days once Saturdays, Sundays and the US federal holidays in between are taken out — the figure that matters if you are counting delivery lead time or a work schedule rather than sleeps. The date is 2027-06-19 in ISO form and 6/19/2027 in the US format, it falls in ISO week 24 of 2027, and it is day 170 of 365.
How the date of Juneteenth is decided
Juneteenth National Independence Day is always 19 June. It became a federal holiday in 2021, so it is the newest one and is not yet observed by every employer.
That makes it a fixed date: the same day of the same month every year, so it lands on a different weekday each time. In 2027 it is a Saturday.
Juneteenth is one of the eleven US federal holidays. Federal offices, banks and the bond market close, and it does not count as a business day in any of the business-day calculators on this site. In 2027 it falls on a Saturday, so the federal observance moves to Friday, 18 June 2027 — that is the day offices actually close. The observed date is the one our business days calculator skips.
Juneteenth in the years after 2027
| Year | Date | Day | Countdown |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2028 | 19 June 2028 | Monday | Juneteenth 2028 |
| 2029 | 19 June 2029 | Tuesday | Juneteenth 2029 |
| 2030 | 19 June 2030 | Wednesday | Next Juneteenth |
The date does not move, but the weekday does — which is why the same holiday gives a long weekend in some years and not others.
Every convention used above — whether the start date counts, how month ends are clamped, which holidays close an office — is written out on the methodology page, including how we count the 200 working days above.
