Father's Day 2028 is still ahead. It falls on Sunday, 18 June 2028, 660 days after 28 August 2026. This page is kept whichever side of today the date falls on: the date and the rule behind it are worth looking up either way. For the year after this one see Father's Day 2029, and for the always-current countdown see the next Father's Day.
Father's Day 2028 is Sunday, 18 June 2028
There are 660 days between 28 August 2026 and Father's Day 2028, which falls on Sunday, 18 June 2028. That is 94 weeks and 2 days, or 450 working days once Saturdays, Sundays and the US federal holidays in between are taken out — the figure that matters if you are counting delivery lead time or a work schedule rather than sleeps. The date is 2028-06-18 in ISO form and 6/18/2028 in the US format, it falls in ISO week 24 of 2028, and it is day 170 of 366.
How the date of Father's Day is decided
The third Sunday in June in the United States, so it falls between 15 and 21 June.
That makes it a floating date: it is pinned to a weekday rather than to a day number, so it is always a Sunday but the date moves. In 2028 that is 18 June.
Father's Day is an observance rather than a federal holiday. Offices, banks and schools stay open unless an individual employer chooses otherwise, and it counts as an ordinary business day in every calculator here. Only the eleven federal holidays are treated as non-working days — the list and the reasoning are on the holiday sources page.
Father's Day in the years after 2028
| Year | Date | Day | Countdown |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2029 | 17 June 2029 | Sunday | Father's Day 2029 |
| 2030 | 16 June 2030 | Sunday | Next Father's Day |
| 2031 | 15 June 2031 | Sunday | Next Father's Day |
The weekday never changes; only the date does, inside the June window the rule allows.
Every convention used above — whether the start date counts, how month ends are clamped, which holidays close an office — is written out on the methodology page, including how we count the 450 working days above.
